Activating the new face of leadership
Athena’s core mission is to propel minority women to positions of leadership while creating healthier, more creative, and more equitable work environments. Studies show that despite their aspirations and experience, women of color remain underrepresented in senior management levels. Common interventions like diversity training or universal mentoring programs have fallen short, sometimes advancing other groups while leaving women of color behind.
Unlike blanket approaches, Athena is tailored. We customize leadership development activities to the unique challenges of minority women. It begins with more inclusive definitions of leadership and executive presence. Athena programs are also strength-based, instilling the confidence and readiness to lead.
Developed for women of color by women of color
We have combined research, industry best practices, and our own perspectives to build a leadership development resource exclusively for Black women, Latinas, and other women of color. By drawing on our life experiences, we can create impactful learning experiences that resonate with Athena members. This “for us by us” approach creates a safe space where members can let down their guard, providing the psychological safety needed for reflection, development, and growth.
